Rob is wondering why he hasn’t had his Pensioner Concession Card reinstated and is asking why he may have been left off the list.
Q. Rob
Can you tell me if all pensioners who were taken off the Pension due to the new Assets Test will get their Pensioner Concession Card reinstated as of 9 October?
A. Only those who lost their Age Pension as an immediate consequence of the 1 January 2017 changes to the Assets and Income Test will have their Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) reinstated.
If your PCC was cancelled as a result of your assets changing after 1 January 2017, then your card will not be reinstated.
However, you may still be eligible for a Low Income Health Care Card, which will give you access to:
- cheaper medicine under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
- bulk-billed doctor visits
- bigger refunds for medical costs when you reach the Medicare Safety Net
- selected discounts with Australia Post.
A Low Income Health Care Card may also entitle you to other concessions from your state or territory government, local councils and private businesses.
