For many Australians, a trip to Bunnings Warehouse is more than just a shopping excursion; it’s a cultural experience. The smell of a sizzling sausage sizzle, the rows of garden supplies, and the seemingly endless aisles of hardware treasures have made Bunnings a household name and a weekend destination. But what if you could skip the queues and get your DIY essentials delivered straight to your door on the same day? Well, hold onto your hard hats, because Bunnings has just announced a game-changing partnership with Uber that promises to do just that.
The familiar scenario of multiple trips to Bunnings for those easily forgotten items could soon be a thing of the past. Whether you’re a professional tradie or a weekend warrior of home improvement, we’ve all felt the frustration of that one missing piece that halts progress. But now, with Bunnings’ new same-day delivery service, you can keep your projects moving without missing a beat.
Imagine you’re in the middle of assembling your new outdoor setting, and you realise you’re short a few bolts. Or perhaps you’re painting the deck and you’ve underestimated the amount of stain you need. With Bunnings’ same-day delivery, any order placed by 2pm up until December 23 will be on your doorstep by 7pm that same day. This convenience is a lifesaver for last-minute gift shopping or those unexpected project hiccups.
The service is available for a flat fee of $15, with Uber handling the delivery to bring your supplies right to your doorstep. For those living within a 15-kilometre radius of over 100 regional and metropolitan Bunnings stores, this service is a dream come true. However, it’s important to note that for regional customers, the same-day guarantee is subject to geographical limits.
Bunnings Chief Operating Officer, Ryan Baker, has emphasised the company’s dedication to customer experience. ‘We’re committed to offering our customers the best experience, widest range and lowest prices, and same day parcel delivery across regional Australia is another way we can improve this offering,’ he said.
The partnership with Uber is not just a seasonal gimmick; it’s a pilot test with the intention to expand. Following the initial rollout, the plan is to scale up to more stores nationally, learning from the Christmas period’s demand and feedback.
For tradies and DIY enthusiasts like Brad Bartels, a contract manager who’s spent a significant part of the year renovating his apartment, the service is a welcome addition. ‘Tradies would love to use this service, especially smaller companies. Everyone is tight on time so it’s definitely a good move,’ he said. The convenience of not having to leave a job site for hours to pick up supplies cannot be overstated.
Yet, Bunnings and its customers know that the in-store experience is irreplaceable. The community atmosphere, expert advice, and leisurely browsing are all part of the charm. This new service is not intended to replace that but to complement it, offering an alternative for those specific, time-sensitive needs.
With Bunnings’ new same-day delivery service, DIY projects might get a little easier. How do you think this service could impact your own home improvements? Would it change how you plan your weekend renovations? Share your thoughts in the comments below – we’d love to hear from you!
