Christmas Target bargains come early

I must admit to being a bit of a grinch when it comes to the mention of Christmas at this time of year. Don’t get me wrong – I love Christmas and all the goodwill and cheer it brings. But talking about it more than two months in advance seems a bit over the top.

On the other hand, I’m a big fan of preparing well in advance, no matter what the task at hand. And in the past, my refusal to even think about Christmas before December has resulted in poor planning.

So this year I am compromising. I’m not going to discuss Christmas openly, but I am going to plan for it. To help me do so, I’ve scanned the web and found the following deals that I think will help me. They may also come in handy for you.

A Christmas Target

I will not be putting up any Christmas decorations before December but that doesn’t mean I can’t make sure I’ll be ready ahead of the date. The good news is that Target has a range of options already available and ready to go. And it’s a range that features some cracking bargains.

Christmas trees, for instance. Like most households I’ll be setting up one main Christmas tree, but what about the rest of the house? At Target you can pick up a tree for just $5! And it’s not a tiny tree that sits on your work desk – these beauties are 90cm tall. (That’s 3 feet in the old measurements.) At that price you can put one in every room. Better still you can match each one to the room’s décor with a choice of green, gold or pink.

If one main tree is enough for you, Target still has you covered. Its range of full-size trees covers heights from 1.8 to 2.8 metres (6 to 9 feet). Some of them even come pre-lit, like the 2.8-metre Snowy Pre-lit Christmas Tree, a Target exclusive at just $199. Check out the full Target Christmas trees here.

Can’t see the trees for the Target forest of Christmas goodies

Just to be clear, trees are just the tip of Target’s Christmas iceberg. The full suite of seasonal offerings includes, lights, decorations, Advent calendars and much, much more. Christmas-themed pyjamas? Check. Christmas table and drinkware? Check. Cards and wrapping? Check.

And I haven’t even mentioned presents yet. Toys, books, clothes, craft items, bath and body gifts – Target has them all. You could just about have Christmas sorted in a single Target shopping session.

To see the entire array of Christmas products, go to the Target home page here and hover over the ‘Christmas’ tab at the upper left of your screen.

Beware, though – if you want to see it all, you might want to put aside a couple of hours.

IGA

I haven’t seen any Christmas-themed items at my local IGA yet, but I have seen some very handy bargains. The latest IGA specials catalogue dropped yesterday and provides a great chance to do big grocery top-up on the cheap.

Staples such as Kellogg’s Nutri Grain and grated Bega tasty cheese are half price. And for a healthy and tasty treat, grab some Kensington Pride mangoes. These are just coming into season and are just $3.50 each.

The fruit and veg bargains don’t stop there, though. Gourmet tomatoes are just $3.99 per kilo and Australian continental cucumbers are $1.49 each. Salad days aren’t over – they’re just beginning.

Check out the full suite of IGA specials, on sale until next Tuesday (22 October), here

Until next week, happy bargain hunting!
