Flights, fashion and fresh food

Last week I was feeling a little lazy and ordered a delivered dinner. It was a little bit naughty, but I justified it by claiming it as reward for a hard day’s work. However, I felt even more naughty when I realised how much my fast-food meal for one had cost: $35.25.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the meal immensely and reassured myself by saying there’s not much you can get for under $35 these days.

That is, unless you fly with Jetstar. Arriving in my inbox yesterday was news of Jetstar’s ‘Just Plane Good’ sale. And prices start at just $34! That’s even cheaper than last week’s fast food delivery.

The ‘Just Plane Good Sale’ leads this week’s deals. Also, check out Myer’s winter clearance fashion items and some fine fare on special at Aldi.

Jetstar’s ‘Just Plane Good’ sale

Let’s start with Jetstar’s incredible $34 deal. For less than I paid for a fast-food meal last week, you can fly from Ballina Byron to Sydney for just $34! And if you happen to be a Club Jetstar member that flight could be as cheap as $29! This deal is available for flights between 14 January and 12 March 2025.

Of course, not everyone will be looking to fly from Byron to Sydney, but there are plenty of other – even international – flights at bargain prices. For instance Melbourne to Bangkok from $239. Or Brisbane to Seoul from $275. Or how about Sydney to Honolulu from just $280!

And that’s only a very small sample of the flights on sale. These are great deals, but if there’s a perfect flight for you on the list, don’t delay. The ‘Just Plane Good’ sale ends on Monday night.

Lovely weather for fashion bargains from Myer

As spring approaches, many retailers are looking to clear out their winter stock. And that means bargains. You might not have many chances to don these outfits until next year but when you do, the savings you’ve made will give a feeling of extra warmth.

Myer’s a good place to find some fashionable winter wear at clearance prices. For men there’s the Wilson textured wool blend car coat in navy. This very stylish piece has been knocked down from $259.95 to just $110. That’s well below half price.

For the women, consider the Miss Shop organic cotton blend boyfriend shirt in light blue. It’s been reduced from $69.95 to just $25. Or how about the Piper long sleeve drop shoulder rib top in tan. Originally retailing at $59.95, it’s now just $15!

Grocery goodness at Aldi

Fight back against the cost-of-living crunch with this week’s specials at Aldi. There’s fresh produce aplenty at great prices, with classic iceberg lettuce at $2.49 each, Australian-grown gourmet tomatoes at just $3.99 a kilo and a 375g pack of Australian white flat mushrooms for only $4.99. That’s a great salad more or less sorted at a great price.

That salad will go nicely with some Canon Foods garlic chicken burgers (just $4.99 for a four-pack) or some succulent Luv-A-Duck Peking duck breast, a bargain at $12.99 for a 360g pack.

Check out these and plenty of other great buys in this week’s Aldi catalogue. These sale prices are valid until next Tuesday 27 August.
