I’m not a huge fan of winter. However, I am a big fan of bargains, and in Australia winter means end of financial year (EOFY) sales. And EOFY sales can mean genuine bargains. Even better, almost all retailers take advantage of the last weeks of June to move stock on. In turn, that means almost everywhere you shop there’s an EOFY bargain to be had. Here are a few we’ve uncovered.
‘Smash your tax time’ at JB Hi-Fi
At JB Hi-Fi, this year’s slogan is ‘Smash your tax time!’ I’m not totally sure what that means, but it certainly means good deals for buyers on a range of products. Among those products are a range of computers and laptops, many of which have had big chunks knocked off the ticket price.
Among the bargains to be had is the Dell Inspiron 3525 laptop, marked down to $899, which is $300 off the regular ticket price. Cheaper still is the HD 14“ Touchscreen Chromebook at just $279, a whopping $200 below the ticket price.
Desktop computers are also part of the EOFY sale. The MSI Modern AM272P 27″ FHD Desktop All-in-One PC is a prime example. Normally retailing at $1999, it’s been slashed to $1499 ahead of the financial year end.

‘Catch’ these EOFY bargains!
I don’t know much about winter fishing. In fact I don’t know much about fishing at all, much to my former father-in-law’s dismay. But I do know that you can catch some excellent bargains at Catch’s EOFY sale.
Perhaps the best thing about Catch’s sale is that it takes in a wide range of goodies, from computers to clothes and fashion to fragrances.
And let’s not forget the all-important grocery items. They may not be exotic, but they are essential. Among the essentials on special at Catch are washing powder, dog treats, vitamins, medicines and confectionery. (Is confectionery really essential? Absolutely, I say!)
Also on special are men’s winter fashion items, shoes, trainers and a range of big brand hair care products. And if you can’t find the laptop or computer you’re after at JB Hi-Fi, you might find it among Catch’s range of computers, tablets and laptops.

Jetstar your way to Bali
It’s not strictly related to EOFY but for the next week Jetstar is offering a host of deals in their ‘Best of Bali’ sale. Among their Bali holiday packages are flights and a five-night stay at Bali Dynasty Resort. At $1498 for two travellers (just $749 each), that’s more than $1000 off a package valued at $2518.
Alternatively, there’s a similar package (flights and five nights) at the Hotel Vila Lumbung, for only $609 per traveller. The combined price for two of $1218 is $810 off the regular valuation of $2028.
If your budget is limited or you’re after a shorter stay, Jetstar still has you covered. Its ‘Four Points By Sheraton Bali, Kuta’ package (flights plus four nights) starts at $576 per person. Or how about flights and a four-night stay at Jambuluwuk Oceano Seminyak Hotel for just $529 per traveller!
