Chocolate Croissant Pudding

With cream, chocolate and liqueur, our Chocolate Croissant Pudding is a decadent treat for one. Enjoy with ice cream – because if you’re going to indulge, you may as well do it properly!

Serves: One

Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 croissant, torn into pieces
  • 30g dark chocolate, chopped into pieces
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 60ml milk
  • 60ml cream
  • 1 teaspoon orange liqueur (e.g. Cointreau)
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1/2 tablespoon hazelnuts, roughly chopped

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease the base and sides of a small ovenproof dish. Place the croissant pieces in the dish and scatter three quarters of the chocolate pieces over. In a small bowl, add the egg and sugar and beat until pale and creamy. In a small saucepan over a medium heat, add the milk, cream, liqueur and remaining chocolate and heat until almost boiling. Once chocolate has melted, remove from heat. Gradually add the egg mixture while stirring. Next, add the orange zest and juice and mix. Slowly pour the mixture over the croissant and then sprinkle with hazelnuts. Bake for 30 minutes. Once cooked, allow to cool for 10 minutes before enjoying with ice cream.
