Here’s what happens inside your air fryer while you cook!

The air fryer has become a kitchen staple for many households because of its ease of use and the healthier cooking options it provides. It allows busy individuals to do other chores while the air fryer does the cooking, and health-conscious individuals to enjoy their favourite fried foods with less oil and fuss.

Recently, a social media post about air fryers went viral,  after it revealed what really happens inside the air fryer while cooking.

The social media video, which has already generated over 10.6 million views, was shared by a user named Ali.

In her eye-opening demonstration, Ali placed a spring roll inside her Ninja Crispi glass air fryer and set it to cook. The spring roll then began to spin rapidly, propelled by the powerful currents of hot air circulating within the device.

‘Watching the inside of an air fryer feels illegal,’ Ali captioned her post, echoing the sentiments of many viewers who found the sight both mesmerising and slightly unsettling.

‘They spin?’ one commenter asked, while another humorously remarked, ‘No way, my food is just in [there] break dancing.’

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in, saying, ‘It only does that with light things, like cheese on a burger. [It will] get thrown off.’

With the virality of her previous post, Ali made another video. This time, she filmed what happens if she puts a slice of bread with cheese and sets it to cook.

In her second viral video, which has over 4 million views, the bread and cheese look like they are flying inside the kitchen gadget.

‘Wait. Is this why they call it an AIR fryer? Because our food is cooking in the air?’ asked one commenter.

Meanwhile, someone else wrote, ‘Do you all not know how air fryers work? It’s basically just a heating coil and a fan.’

Air fryers operate by using a heating element located at the top of the appliance, which emits heat that is then circulated by a fan, creating a convection effect that cooks the food evenly and quickly.

This rapid air movement can cause lighter items to lift and spin, much like leaves caught in a gust of wind. It’s a feature that can lead to unexpected results, such as cheese flying off a slice of bread, as Ali demonstrated in a follow-up video.

Are you worried about how the air fryer’s spinning action could affect your cooking? The truth is, while the spinning action might be surprising, it doesn’t necessarily compromise the cooking process.

Most air fryers are designed to handle some movement, ensuring that food is cooked thoroughly and evenly. However, if you are concerned about your cheese-topped dishes or lighter items, there are a few tips to keep your food in place.

Consider using toothpicks to secure toppings, or place a lightweight rack on top of the food to keep it in place.
