Fast food lovers are in for a treat after McDonald’s Australia, affectionately known as Macca’s, unveiled a ‘one of a kind’ menu item featuring an iconic Australian staple.
The popular fast food brand said ‘nothing tastes more Australian’ than this new featured ingredient in their menu. Can you guess what it is?
McDonald’s has introduced Vegemite McShaker fries – a bold fusion of their classic fries with a generous dusting of Vegemite seasoning. Now, customers can indulge in this unique offering, shaking their way to a savoury snack that’s sure to spark conversation.
The fast food chain has also resurrected the fan-favourite Cadbury Crunchie McFlurry. This sweet sensation pairs the creamy goodness of McDonald’s soft serve, available in both vanilla and chocolate, with the honeycomb crunch of a Cadbury Crunchie bar.
For those who prefer their sweet treats in the form of a drink, the Crunchie Frappe has made a comeback too.
The buzz around these new menu items began to build in October 2024 when the popular food creator on Instagram @nectoriouspapi teased the range on social media, writing, ‘Coming to McDonald’s this summer… Vegemite shaker fries, Crunchie McFlurry, [and] Crunchie Frappe. Who’s keen?’
The response was immediate and enthusiastic, with fans eagerly commenting on their anticipation.
‘The Vegemite McShaker fries should be a permanent staple on the menu,’ wrote one user.
‘Crunchie is the [greatest of all time] flavour of McFlurrys,’ commented someone else, while another echoed, ‘Why McDonald’s got rid of Crunchie McFlurry will forever be a mystery. [It’s] better than both Oreo and M&M. Glad to see [that it] is back!’
But that’s not all – the menu drop also saw the return of the McOz burger, a patriotic nod to Australian flavours with its beetroot, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, mustard, and tomato sauce, available in both beef and chicken.
And for those looking to share the joy, the ‘Squad Down Under Bundle’ offers a feast for four, complete with two McOz burgers, two other ‘core’ burgers, four medium Vegemite McShaker fries, four medium drinks, and a bucket hat adorned with McDonaldland characters.
Rounding out the new summer range is the Caramel Thickshake, a sweet addition that will make its debut a little later in the month. While most of the new items hit stores today, its release will follow on January 22.
