Soda Bread

Ever fancied making your own bread? It’s super easy with our Soda Bread recipe. No proving or kneading required, and it only takes 40 minutes of your time.

Makes: One loaf

Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

    • 100g wholemeal flour
    • 22g wholemeal flour
    • 1 teaspoon bicarb soda
    • 1 teaspoon sea salt flakes
    • 225ml buttermilk
    • 4 tablespoons honey

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with baking paper and dust with extra wholemeal flour. In a large bowl, combine the two flours, bicarb soda and salt and mix well. In a smaller bowl, add the buttermilk and honey and whisk. Make a hole in the middle of the dry ingredients and pour the buttermilk mixture into the hole. Gently stir with a fork until soft dough begins to form. Shape it into a round loaf and place on the baking tray. Score a cross on the top with a sharp knife and dust with more flour. Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
