Simple Surprise Pudding

This delectable dessert is a twist on the traditional bread and butter pudding. Just combine chocolate croissants, berries and cream to make our Simple Surprise Pudding.

Ingredients
(serves 2)

2 medium or 1 1/2 large chocolate croissants, cut into small pieces
2 eggs
150 ml thickened light cream
6 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1/2 tablespoon icing sugar, to serve

Method
Grease a small ovenproof dish. Place croissants in dish. Combine eggs, cream, milk and sugar in a bowl and whisk. Pour over the croissants. Cover and stand at room temperature (or in the fridge if it is a hot day) for one hour. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced), and bake until custard is set (30–40 minutes). Dust with icing sugar and serve.

Variations
If you only have access to regular croissants, throw in a handful of chocolate chips. Add a handful of frozen berries to the custard for a choc-berry flavour.
