The things you learn on TikTok! I’ve been washing my broccoli incorrectly for decades.
TikToker Sidney Raz, 34, apparently has 3.9 million followers, and it seems he’s teaching us all a thing or two.
He says he had always washed the vegetable head first, causing the water to bounce off before going into the sink.
When someone else on TikTok took to the platform to show dozens of spider-like bugs (they turned out to be aphids) in the florets of her broccoli, he had another think about the best way to wash it.
He now turns it upside down under the rushing water, i.e. stalk first. Instead of bouncing off the broccoli, the water rushes down the stalk, into the crevices of the florets and down the drain, taking any bugs with it.
Do you always wash your vegies? How have you been washing broccoli?
