Aussie mattress company Koala is holding a competition that seems to encourage Baby Boomers not to apply.
The competition winner wins the chance to ‘live like a Boomer,’ winning a year’s worth of rent or mortgage payments.
As many baby boomers have paid off their house entirely, the prize is a little pointless for them. But many, many others in the same age bracket are still paying off a mortgage or are renting.
Although the competition doesn’t officially ban Baby Boomers from entering, a series of entry questions you need to answer to enter in order to prove you are worthy of worthy of “the financial freedom usually reserved for those 58 and above”.
Not everyone will be happy with this strategy, but it’s gaining the company attention nonetheless—and isn’t that the essence of clever marketing?

This realy annoys me.
It boils my blood. We went through the Margaret Thatcher years when interest rates went from 7%, which we thought was cheap to 15% overnight.
My husband was then a coal Miner and they went on strike and we could get no help of any social services we went through hell it lasted 6 months we had to que for food from a charity it was 1982
I had a newborn baby and I just bought my first home we had more struggles then than this generation can imagine
we’ve been through the 2008 GFC where we lost our home in Englandwhat’s happening now and then ,in 2008 is an eternal cycle brought on by greed
these kids today don’t know they’re born they’ve been used to free money most of there adult life
we’ve had to work Bloody hard to get where we are now
And god forbid we’re getting a bit of return on our money in the bank.
By the way nobody gave it to us We saved it from both working hard and now we are castigated for having paid off our mortgage and a bit of money in the bankthey want to do the history and have a look what we went through our
,grandparents went through in the war
you would think they’re the only people in the world to ever have to suffer
and in a society where everybody wants something better every day every week they have to have the latest phone best car best house now they have to pay for it tough !Tina proud duel citizen of UK and Australia

Welcome to my world Tinzy. I too am p****d off. Born UK now living in Aus and worked seriously hard to get where I am. Saved money and bought property and did OK so am now early retired and mortgage free. Every day I hear in media, how “everyone” is fed up with rate hike, well we are not! Bring it on!!
This generation is treated badly by everyone. Why should a mattress company be any different? -

What the current generation of home buyers don’t realise, they are llucky to have an interest of 4%. When we built a house in Tasmania, and moved and bought one in One mile just out of Ipswich,Qld. , the going rate was 14.25%, and that rayte lasted quite a while.10 years It certainly kept house pricess down. And in 1992 it went up to 17%, yep 17%. How it got down to 1% is a mystery which should never have happened . While I am hbere, perhaps someone can explain what or who is Gen X .
