Fat Bear Week an online competition where people can vote for their favourite ‘fat’ bear in the Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska as they chunk up before hibernation.
Each bear is given a bit of a profile, for example, “Walker has a light bulb or pear-shaped body”, which would be mildly insulting for humans, but flattering for bears.
Anyway, this year’s winner is 128 Grazer triumphed over 11 other bears for the title.
“With a dominant performance … Grazer’s resilience and strength is the epitome of Katmai’s brown bears,” the park service said on a social media post.
She beat out 747 who was described as “typically very fat” and another male with a “prominent posterior”. Go Grazer.
Grazer won fans with the way she “stuffed salmon into her face”. I know a few fancy cafes like that.
