The number of cases of ‘kennel cough’, a respiratory infection affecting dogs, have been rising across Australia, veterinarians are warning.
Kennel cough is a highly contagious disease, and most dogs contract it in settings where they are around many other dogs such as boarding facilities and dog parks.
The number one symptom of kennel cough is a strong, hacking cough that often sounds like ‘honking’.
Other symptoms can include a runny nose, sneezing, lethargy, loss of appetite and a low fever.
If you see any of these symptoms in your dog, don’t hesitate to take them to the vet.
