Long-haul flights come with their challenges, but the reason one was turned back recently – after an hour – was simply foul for all on board.
The reason was – fortunately, nothing to do with terrorists – diarrhoea.
That’s right. Hundreds of passengers on board a Delta flight between Atlanta and Barcelona were horrified when an ill passenger “had diarrhoea all the way though” the plane.
About an hour into the journey, the Delta pilots requested the plane turn back.
Cancelling a flight while the jet is in the air is costly for an airline with wasted fuel and the need to find a new crew.
But a recording of the communication between the pilots and air traffic control, uploaded to Twitter – now known as X, showed there was very little choice.
What’s the worst thing you’ve had to endure on a long-haul flight?
