Time to rifle through your drawers and shake out your handbag because apparently Australians are sitting on $1.4 billion of unused gift cards.
I can totally relate. I recently found two cinema gift cards that were almost out of date and we had to race around to catch a movie we didn’t really want to see just to use them up.
But apparently boomers are the best demographic at spending gift cards, with only 13 per cent leaving them untouched, compared to 37 per cent of Gen Z.
So start looking, apart from anything, not spending gift cards is just like handing a business pure profit.
And if you don’t want to use it yourself, you can always sell it online for a discount price and plenty of charities would love a gift card or two.
What would you do with a newly discovered gift card? Keep it, or give it away?
