Tech security experts are warning Apple iPhone users they could be vulnerable to hackers and cybercriminals if they are still using an older model, news.com.au is reporting.
iPhones manufactured in 2014 and before will now no longer receive Apple security updates, leaving the devices much more susceptible to intrusion. Dangerously obsolete models now range from the original iPhone right through to the iPhone 6 family.
If you’re still using one of these models, it’s time to look at upgrading.
Jake Moore, cybersecurity adviser, says hackers are specifically target older tech because of their outdated security.
“Older iPhones still remain in circulation and once a vulnerability is located, it can rapidly be exploited by attackers targeting unpatched devices,” he said.
“If people are using iPhones that are out of patch warranty, they should consider replacing them with a newer, more secure device.”
