The official dish of the coronation is the coronation quiche. Queen Elizabeth’s official dish was coronation chicken.

Coronations have been held at Westminster Abbey for more than 950 years.

You can expect to hear Handel’s Zadok the Priest, which has been performed at every coronation since 1727, which was George II’s coronation.

The Stone of Scone, the stone upon which English monarchs have been coronated for centuries, has been returned to London for the ceremony. It was returned to Scotland in 1996, the first time since it was taken by Edward I as the spoils of war in 1296.

Charles will be crowned with the St Edwards Crown. It was crafted in the 13th century and named after Edward the Confessor. It contains 444 precious and semi-precious stones and weighs 2.23 kilograms.

Camilla will wear a crown made for Queen Mary’s coronation in 1911. The crown has been modified to remove the Koh-i-Noor diamond and replace it with the Cullinan III, IV and V diamonds. The switch is speculated to be because of Koh-i-Noor’s controversial history with the royal family.

Will you be watching the coronation?

British imperialism not only steals precious gems from a country, it did a similar thing here over two hundred years ago, I think its’s called plundering.

FranC, what is the difference between what British Imperialism did and what the Portuguese, Spanish, French, Dutch, and Germans did during that period in history.

Between the early 1600’s and the early 1700’s the British monarchy was stripped of its ability to rule the country and all actions, including settlement in other countries, was the responsibility of the parliament. Britain became a democratic nation. Therefore the Royal family of England or Great Britain can NOT be held responsible for the treatment of the “colonies”.
