Flooding … it’s not just about you

Sometimes people can’t see beyond their own entitlement and it shows.

A resident of Melbourne’s western suburbs posted online that her house was in danger of being flooded and the SES weren’t doing anything to help. If they were expecting sympathy, they didn’t get it.

Almost every reply defended the SES, quite rightly stating that the group was facing hundreds of calls and dealing with people at risk of losing their lives, not just the possibility of one house maybe being flooded.

Media coverage of the weather made it quite plain there was serious rainfall coming, so if you think you were in danger of being flooded, why didn’t you take responsibility for it?

And you can be damned sure the person making the post had never been a SES volunteer.

It’s always the way, those willing to criticise are rarely willing to help.

This person should spend a couple of hours with the SES to find out how bad the weather has changed the workload of the SES. She then might change her attitude towards them.

This is just another example of the me me me generation.
