If your grandkids barely look up from their digital devices to say hello, you’re not on your own.
Which makes me think about what we did as kids when we were primary school-aged types.
The pastimes seemed to be cyclical at my school. There was skipping (with the big rope swung by two people), elastics (a long loop ‘stolen’ from mum’s sewing kit that you stretched between the ankles, then knees of two friends), marbles, knots (where a group holding hands twisted into a ‘knot’ and someone had to untwist them), hopscotch (especially the circular one) and cat’s cradle (played with a piece of wool or string).
What games did you play? Have you tried to get your grandkids to play them?
