A court in Italy has issued an eviction notice against two sons who refused to leave the comforts of their parents’ home. Their age … 40 and 42.

The mother took drastic legal action due to her frustrations the two ‘boys’ did not contribute financially or help with chores. They both have jobs.

Judge Simona Caterbi was sympathetic, saying while it was a parents’ responsibility to look after their children, those children being over 40 was a bit too much. She gave them until December 18 to move.

In Italy, older adults living with their parents is so common it has a name: bamboccioni.
Up to 70 per cent of people aged 18-34 still live with their parents.

I was 17 when I moved out of home, but rents were cheaper back then, there’s no way my children could afford to move out right now.

How old were you when you moved out?

I was sixteen when I moved out of home and into the Nurses’ Home to begin nursing training. I never moved back home after that. I loved being independent too much.
