A change to Coles’ checkout process is giving some shoppers a surprise $10 off their shop.
At Coles’ self-service checkouts, customers are now asked if they’d like to claim $10 off their bill if they have accumulated 2000 Flybuys points. Previously, that prompt wouldn’t have happened, and you would have had to convert the points to Flybuys dollars through the app.
But while claiming your $10 is much easier now, there is a slight catch you should be aware of.
One shopper told Seniors Discount Club that claiming the $10 means you don’t earn any Flybuys points for that shop.
But a Coles spokesperson clarified that wasn’t entirely accurate, saying points would still be accrued – but only after the $10 had been subtracted.
“When customers opt-in to take $10 off their shop, they will still collect points on the value of their shop, but after the $10 off, and any other discounts and savings are applied,”.
