Is our wildlife really that scary?

A tourist from the UK has released on social media things she would have liked to know before she travelled here.

And one of those things is you shouldn’t believe all the stories about the crazy wildlife, and I hope that gains some traction.

Australia has a reputation as having some of the most dangerous native wildlife in the world, but that’s not really true.

Sure there is a bunch of animals that could technically kill you, but they actually hardly ever kill anyone and it’s not like we have polar bears or lions running around.

In fact the most deadly animal we have in Australia is the horse, almost always due to falls.

I lived in the country for many years and only saw two snakes and I’d be lucky to see a redback spider about once every 10 years.

There’s crocs and sharks, but stay out of their backyard and you should be fine.

And surely koalas and wombats cancel out any ‘dangerous’ animals.

What do you think, does our wildlife deserve a better reputation?
