Ever wondered why the content of some products are only half full – or less. Like a supplement I bought recently that had 50 ‘pills’ in a container that could have help 250. Waste of material, I thought.

But in some instances, there’s a good reason. Those who buy the occasional packet of chips – occasional because you know they’re not exactly good for you – may be wondering why they’re also light on for content.

      It’s because of ‘functional slack-fill’.

‘Slack fill’ protects a product on its journey from the factory to the shop shelves and wherever else chips end up. That journey, without the protective cushion of slack-fill, could see the chips reduced to crumbs by the time they reach their destination.

Munch on and wonder no longer.
