Luxury car brand Lexus has issued a recall for more than 14,000 of its vehicles in order to address ‘potentially disastrous’ flaws in a number of their popular models.
The models affected are the Lexus IS and GS sedans, as well as RC coupes made between 2012 and 2018. Four-cylinder, hybrid, and V6-powered models are affected by the issue.
The high-performance 5.0-litre V8-powered GS F and RC F models are also affected.
The problem relates to issues with the fuel tank, which has the potential to cause ‘a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a vehicle fire’, according to the recall and that ‘a vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders’.
