Australians across the country are bracing themselves for a wet and dreary week ahead as a massive rain band is set to sweep across the nation.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued warnings, stating that many states will experience a rainy start to the week, with the rain band stretching from the Pilbara and Kimberly regions, all the way across central Australia and reaching the eastern states.

This rain band is estimated to stretch over 3,000kms, bringing with it soaking rains. The forecast predicts rainfall amounts ranging from 10mm to 100mm across the northwest, central, and southeast regions. In fact, central Australia is expected to surpass its average winter season rainfall in just a few days, thanks to the rain band.

Southern states have already experienced above-average rainfall this June. Over the weekend, the entirety of the southeast endured a deluge, with Adelaide receiving 48mm of rain and the nearby Mount Lofty Ranges receiving a whopping 100mm.
