NSW upper house member Peter Poulos has been suspended from the Liberal Party which has dumped him as a candidate at the upcoming state election, effectively ending his political career.
What did he do? Five years ago, he sent explicit photos of Liberal MP Robyn Preston to party members.
On first look, this would qualify for criminal charges, but the photos were from a Penthouse magazine shoot she did in the 1980s, so were already in the public domain. So it’s juvenile, malicious and petty, but he can’t be charged for it.
Why did it take five years to act?
Our politicians should behave in a manner that reflects their leadership responsibility and yet they constantly act in ways we’d be horrified if a teenage boy indulged in.
Time to hold them to a higher standard.
What do you think should happen to Peter Poulos? Should he face charges?
