Have you used the new revamped myGov website? There have been reports from members of the public that they are receiving anonymous text messages after using the site asking for updated details such as phone numbers and bank account details and a link at which to provide them.
“You may have recently got a text message to advise you’ve made a change to your myGov account,” myGov says.
“The text message may ask you to click on a link or access a web form. If you do, you may be redirected to a fake myGov site designed to steal your personal information and banking details.”
MyGov says anyone who receives the suspicious messages should call the Scams and Identity Theft Helpdesk on 1800 941 126, including if they have opened a link or attachment sent in an unsafe message.
