We’ve entered September, which means finals time for both the AFL and NRL, showcase events for the states of Victoria and NSW each year.
And like clockwork, politicians from the two states make their pitch to steal the Grand Final, the final game of the season, from the opposite state.
And this year appears no different. Buoyed by the success of NSW’s two AFL teams – the Sydney Swans and Greater Western Sydney Giants – this year, Mr Minns threw his support behind the idea when asked about it by reporters.
“Let’s do it, let’s take it off them,” Mr Minns said.
“See if we can do it this year, that’d be great.”
Such a move has been proposed before, and its almost always met with unanimous derision from Victorians.
Now we just wait for Victorian premier Jacinta Allan to make a push for the NRL Grand Final (they already get an Origin game) to make the tradition complete!
Do you think moving either the AFL or NRL Grand Finals from their traditional homes is a good idea?
