Stats from RAA Insurance show damage to parked vehicles is the most common type of insurance claim – at least in South Australia.
Parked car damage accounted for around 10,000 claims annually in SA, representing around 18 per cent of all auto claims.
It was followed by ‘hit fixed object’ (17 per cent), windscreen damage (16 per cent) and rear end collision (12 per cent).
Nationally, previous research has shown parked car claims are the third most common auto claim type, behind rear end and side-swiping claims.
Wherever you live, having someone run into your parked vehicle is nothing short of infuriating. Of course, accidents happen, but why do they happen so often?
