Hands up who has been shortchanged by Qantas.

And I don’t mean just you have a COVID refund on the books. I’m talking cancelled flights, late flights and poor customer service when trying to get a refund and poor customer service in general.

Well, that’s great, because Qantas has announced a half-yearly profit of $1.25 billion, so it’s all worth it.

Yes, that’s right, more than a billion dollars in profit for half a year. Meanwhile January’s on time arrivals for Qantas were 76.6 per cent and 77.8 per cent for departures.

At least the cancellation rate has decreased, Qantas only cancelled 2.3 per cent of flights.
I don’t know about you, but if I was only doing my job at a touch over 75 per cent to what was expected, I’d be getting my first warning.

Qantas has announced some improvements including more wifi on board and a ‘major upgrade’ to its digital platforms. But I bet if you asked customers what they probably really want is better in-flight service, better customer service and their planes to run on time. You know, all those things an airline should be doing.

What improvements would you like Qantas to make?
