Thousands of Australians say they’re giving up the grog this year, according to new research.
A Finder survey of 1085 respondents revealed 2 per cent of Australians – equivalent to about 400,000 people – plan to quit drinking in 2023.
More than half of those are Millennials or Gen Y (237,662 people, born between 1982 and 1994). Boomers were much less likely to have made a booze-free 2023 resolution with 67,224 on board for a change. The numbers for Gen X (born between 1965 and 80) were 51,704 and for Gen Z (1997-2012) 44,106.
Finder says that the average Aussie could save more than $1971 a year by abstaining.
