It’s that time of year again, Halloween is approaching so supermarkets are stocking up with small chocolates in bags and little kids are hunting around for their costumes.
It’s still a controversial event in Australia with many people bemoaning it’s just another cultural imperialism from the US.
Frankly, I can’t see the harm. I love handing out lollies to little kids and I literally hunt them down in the street to hand them over. And the costumes are fantastic. Teensy witches and Frankensteins wandering around all chatting to themselves with the excitement of it all.
If it worries you about the US taking us over culturally, well it’s actually originally an Irish festival called Samhain (pronounced sow-in) to mark the end of harvest and the start of winter.
What do you think, Halloween, yay or nay?
