I personally don’t think there is such a thing as a good fruit mince pie, but a CHOICE tasting team has done the hard yards and reviewed the mince pies on offer from three major supermarkets – Woolworths, Coles and Aldi.
Aldi’s 45 cent Kringle & Co fruit mince pies ($2.69 for a pack of six) have been crowned the best in a blind taste test, bagging 44 per cent of the votes.
The pie is described as a “traditional fruit mince pie with a home-style lattice top”.
Close behind Aldi was Woolworths’ shortcrust fruit mince pie – $4.50 for a pack of six or 75 cents each.
It was then a big drop to Coles’ festive fruit mince pies ($4.50 per pack of six or 75 cents each), which received only 16 per cent of the vote.
