You have to admire the French. Good food, good wine, great countryside and damned if they don’t love a good protest.
And they have been at it again with that last one with millions hitting the street in a backlash against raising the pension age.
The protesters have raged against what unions describe as ‘brutal’ plan to raise the pension age from 62 to 64 It’s 66 in Britain, and 67 in Italy, Germany and Spain.
As well as street protests, the campaign affected electricity, public transport and schools and more than 11,000 police were deployed.
Compare this to Australia where there was barely peep when it was proposed to increase the pension age.
With many on the Age Pension facing poverty, should we be more like the French?
