Depending on which state you live in, kids have either returned or are about to return to school for another year. And while it’s the kids themselves who are most affected, this annual change of timetable can affect the lives of Aussies over 50 in many ways, too.

For parents it might bring relief in one sense, but anxiety in another. The cause of that anxiety could range from concerns about how kids might be coping in their new school year to the stress of managing drop-off and pick-up times, especially for working parents.

The impact of the transition back to school may also reach grandparents. In some cases it means no longer having grandkids during the day; in others it might mean taking on board pick-up or drop-off duties.

Whatever the situation, the beginning of a new school year can serve as a reminder of the events and challenges – good and bad – that face the wider family unit over time.

Do you have kids or grandkids returning to school? Does their return signify a change in your routine?
