So Donald Trump Jr. has cancelled his planned Australian tour.
The reason? The late issuing of his visa.
He was due to speak in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane between 9 and 11 July as part of a “Trump Live” tour.
But the organisers, Turning Point Australia, released a statement to announce the tour’s cancellation on Wednesday, and blamed the pesky visa issue.
Given that I didn’t even know he was coming our way, I am personally not too gutted by the news.
Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security Clare O’Neil clearly is not a huge fan either and branded Donald Trump Jr a “big baby who isn’t very popular”.
That’s what the minister tweeted (and the tweets are now deleted!) when she suggested that his tour cancellation had zero to do with any Australian Government action related to a visa. Her suggestion was that Donald Jr. simply didn’t sell the tickets needed to make his visit to Australian shores viable.
Will we ever know the truth?
