Food delivery app Uber Eats has issued a warning to customers around a new scam involving the company circulating on WhatsApp. Some customers received an email on Thursday morning warning them that they may be contacted via the messaging platform by people pretending to be representatives of Uber Eats.

The message says it is an invitation for the customer to join an exclusive Uber Eats promotional team where they will be given rewards. Users are instructed to sign in to the ‘service’ using their existing Uber Eats login details and password – at which point they are promptly stolen by the scammers.

“Please be aware that these messages are not sent by Uber Eats,” the email reads.
“If you receive these messages, we strongly advise you not to engage with it, share personal or financial information, or click on any links.

“Remember, we will never ask you to provide your password.”

Do you use Uber Eats? Have you received this email or WhatsApp message?
