The story (originally reported in America’s Idaho Statesman), caught my eye.
A tourist captures another tourist sticking her fingers in a hot spring at the iconic Yellowstone National Park and declaring “It’s very hot!”
Yes. That’s why there is a warning sign and bubbling, boiling steam rising from the surface.
According to the Park’s website, the spring is around 78 degrees Celsius.
Ouch.
What’s extra alarming is that this was a young girl who did her own test of the hot spring with her father watching and holding her (non-dipping) hand.
This is why hairdryers come with cautionary labels, reminding us not to use them in the bathtub.
This is why the annual Darwin Awards never seem to run out of recipients.
When did you last ignore a warning sign? Have you seen someone do something stupid at a tourist destination? Have you ever tried to stop someone from ignoring a warning sign? Share you stories in the comments below.
