Beyond chocolate, hot cross buns and holidays, DIY projects are set to be a main activity over the Easter break with Australians tipped to spend $6.4 billion on home improvements and renovations.

Research by the Australian Retailers Association, in conjunction with Roy Morgan, projects the average spend per person will be $857, with those aged 18 to 34 spending far more ($1113) than other age group.

      The research also found:

      • More than 33 per cent of women will undertake a DIY project.

      • Victoria has claimed the mantle of the DIY state, with 42 per cent planning a project, followed by Queensland (36 per cent) and Western Australia (35 per cent).

      • About 12 per cent estimate the cost of their project will exceed $2000.

      • About two-thirds of the DIY spending – $4.4 billion – is set to be in the capital cities, while $2.1 billion will be spent in country areas.

Are you planning a DIY over Easter? If so, what’s on your to-do list?

I’m certainly not doing any DIY this Easter, as I rent and can’t do any changes to the property.

I will, though, be working on my craft items, and maybe even starting a new one. There’s nothing like having 3 or 4 WIPs on the go just to keep my mind working and hands full, so no eating chocolate & hot cross buns isn’t in the plan.
