It seems there is a push on to raise the age limit for an Australian working visa from 35 to 50.
Tourism and Transport Forum Australia chief executive Margy Osmond claims Australia would benefit from raising the age limit.
She told the ABC we need to be a bit more creative to fill job vacancies.
“It opens up to a marketplace of people who have different skills and perhaps more professional skills that we could use within the tourism sector,” she said.
The government also fast-tracked 120,000 working visas before Christmas to fill seasonal work vacancies in the agriculture and hospitality sector.
Maybe the government should extend its Work Bonus scheme before opening the country to other part-time workers.
Older Australians are a vast pool of untapped experience that are more than willing to work, but not when they are taxed 50c in the dollar.
Do you want to work more? Is the taxation system holding you back?

I believe older Australians should be given the chance to work before overseas visitors. There are many older people who are willing to work if they were given the chance. However, they should not have to be taxed to the hilt just because they are on a pension or retirement income. Being taxed like high-income workers is wrong and this stops valued older workers from working.
