A lingering cold snap has been torturing Australia and we are all doing our best to keep warm.
Unfortunately with energy costs, that can be expensive, so here are some ideas to keep cosy and while also keeping the bills down.
My favourite way to keep warm and not use the heating is exercise. There are plenty of exercise classes on YouTube for every level of fitness, and even some that can be done in a chair if you have mobility issues.
Other good ideas are to wear a lot of layers, especially clothes with insulating properties such as merino wool. And forget about the itchy jumpers of your childhood.
Modern technology has transformed merino fibres into some of the softest garments you will ever wear.
Keeping your extremities warm is especially important so invest in thick socks, gloves and a warm hat or beanie.
Warm drinks warm us up inside, but also keep our hands warm while drinking.
In bed, use a hot water bottle instead of an electric blanket or having your heating on all night. And make sure you have enough bedding. Plenty of layers help.
And if you are going outside, go to somewhere warm. Shopping centres, libraries and the cinema are all warm spots and you can also find something to do.
