Apparently, baby boomers are shying away from traditional grandparent names like grandma and grandpa and opting for something trendier, cooler. At least that’s what a survey by Preply found. Though it was based in the US.

The most common alternative names for grandmothers in the US are: Gigi, Nana, Mimi, Gran, Bibi and Momo.

For grandfathers, they are: Poppy, Pops, Papi, G-Pa and Grandude.

Do your grandkids call you anything a bit different?

My first Grand son could not say Grandad so it became Andad and that has remained for all of them for the past 22 years.

Our Granddaughter couldn’t say Grandad, and it sounded like Danat, which morphed into Donut. Now our business is called Donuts.
Funnily, my Dad wanted the little ones to call him Pop, but they always called him Lollipop. When he passed, all the Grandies put lollipops on his casket.
