It seems we are so used to out-of-control petrol prices that no one seems that concerned prices are around the $2.25/L mark and its barely made the news.

We’re lucky. We walk a lot and there’s plenty of public transport where we live, but I overhead someone saying they had to put $140 worth of petrol in their car and they need to refill every week.

Usually there is some sort of excuse for this sort of gouging, school holidays or some such, but this one seems to come out of the blue.

Can anyone explain? Are you cutting back on your driving?

I’m a little sick of the increases also. They claim it’s oil shortages but if so we have had these previously and the prices did not go this high. I truly believe is merely profits to partly compensate for the Govt tax increase.
I just love the way the prices jump by large amounts but when they drop its only a couple of cents at a time.
They can’t blame COVID any longer.

It’s a rort plain and simple and the only thing you can do about it is switch to an electric car.

OPEC production cuts and weaker aussie dollar will increase prices

I happened to mention to my granddaughter yesterday, when we bought a new VJ Valiant in 1976, ( for those who aren’t as old as me , it had a straight 6 engine and a 245 hemi motor, making it a 4 litre) we filled up the 64 litre tank for $16. We spent a holiday in Adelaide around the same time, and it would have cost $13 there. That is what you call the good old days !! haha
