Yes it was; it reminds me of my elder sons friend from Kindy!
He was in the Australian Army, he was captured in North Africa by Rommels troops and actually had a chat with Rommel, the was send to a German Camp and tried to escape several times, the last time he was lucky! However, he got to Serbia and then down to the mountains and joined Tito’s Band!
He said each time he asked when do we get to the sea, the same reply ways over the next mountain! Of course that never happened till the end of the war itself! But there are not many people that can say they had spoken to both Rommel and Tito.
Tito governed the Parisans before he was Yugoslavia’s President.
and Rommel

I have always loved Ceylonese Sapphires that you have one there! I have one in a dress ring with diamonds my parents gave me for my 21st Birthday, many moons ago now!
Thanks for sharing the photo of the lovely brooch.
Have you seen the Mosaics of Greek and Italian times that have been found deep in the soils of this world? It is amazing to see that so many have survived so long.

The Great Escape… to Oktoberfest! James Garner and Charles Bronson are among Hollywood stars of WWII epic pictured in high spirits at Munich beer festival
The photos show James Garner, Charles Bronson and friends enjoying tankards of beer as part of celebrations of Oktoberfest – the traditional German beer festival that takes place in the autumn. The photos are being auctioned off as part of the late Garner’s personal archive which is expected to fetch up to £370,000 ($500,000)

America’s beloved golden girl, Betty White, has died at the age of 99 – little more than two weeks shy of her 100th birthday. She leaves behind a massive legacy as a comedienne, actress, author, animal rights activist and one of the first female pioneers in television. In a business where longevity is rare, she broke the mold. With her dimpled smile and wicked sense of humor; she lit up television screens and delighted audiences in hundreds of sitcoms, commercials and films throughout her eight-decade-long career in Hollywood. Her roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Golden Girls turned her into a household fixture; while her appearance on SNL at the age of 88 cemented her designation as a ‘national treasure.’ She holds the Guinness Record for ‘Longest TV Career for an Entertainer;’ her 80-year devotion to showbiz also earned her eight Emmy Awards, 21 nominations and legions of fans who will always remember her quick wit and top drawer comedic timing.

My Ups and Downs. #1714065CeliaMemberOn this first day of the New Year I thought rather than put sad news up I must find something happy and beautiful to share with people that have suffered a stroke or anyone that enjoys beautiful things.
We have a Gardening Thread so I cannot put that!
I thought I would find something that is beautiful to behold in the eye!
Jeweler!
I remember years ago there was a art of Mosaics in jewelers and I have looked for that to share I hope you enjoy them.
I am thinking how like the eye is so dainty like mosaic!
The intricacies of the working of the eye in my case it was damaged due to the Stroke the swelling has gone down according to the doctors the brain damage too so although my sight is not as good as it was in one area it is legal for me to drive again. Personally I cannot notice hardly any difference now and I hope it doesn’t alter.

He is a sweet little boy that loves his trucks and sand pile!
He lives a fair way from us unfortunately about an hour, I wish they lived closer to help his mum she has her trials too as her own mother has cancer. Life is never easy but we can help where we can.
