These remarkable photographs capture one of England’s grandest stately homes, Chatsworth House, in all its glory following its ‘Masterplan’ restoration – which involved it being encased in scaffolding, re-gilding the windows and removing three centuries worth of grime.
Taken by photographer Victoria Hely-Hutchinson, who has worked with Stella McCartney and Vogue, the spectacular images feature in a new book celebrating the completion of the Derbyshire home’s 10-year refurbishment programme, which cost more than £32million.
Chatsworth, Arcadia, Now tells the story of the extraordinary place – made famous as ‘Pemberley’ from the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice – through seven scenes from its life, alongside a stunning photographic portrait of the house and its collections, captured at a ‘moment of high optimism in its long history’.

Passengers scream in terror as hot air balloon smashes into a house and knocks water tank off the roof during a balloon festival in Mexico
The collision happened on the morning of November 13, on the second day of the Leon International Balloon Festival in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato. The balloon was one of almost 200 taking part, but was blown off course by high winds. Footage shows the basket tipping as it collides with the roof of a farmhouse in the Los Castillos neighbourhood of Leon, before hitting the water tank. Fortunately the pilot then managed to regain altitude and no one on board was injured, festival organisers confirmed.
The man can be heard yelling for passengers to hold on tight as the airship basket crashes into the roof

Hubby was told he is clear from Leukemia today! But he now has to fight prostate cancer; if it is not one thing it is another.
Went shopping for suns jeans he wants for Christmas, found them! The lady pulled them out and hung them next to her, it took me all my strength to stop laughing. She said ‘he is call’? Yes I replied. I didn’t like to say his couson is even taller.
The waist came over her shoulder when she held them up with the bottoms on the floor! LOL
36 waist and 34 leg. This son looks short compared to his 6’8″ cousin. Must say it has been an interesting search I even found jeans that have a leg of 37cm!

Thousands of migrants are living in shabby tents cramped together at the Grande Synthe camp in Dunkirk, with rubbish and debris strewn between them. It appears to be based at an industrial unit with the setting providing very little protection from the elements to the migrants. There is no electricity and the mud is ankle deep when it rains. There are too few latrines for a population that grows daily, with hundreds arriving every day, and charity vans provide food once a day.

I used to go into the ocean around that area as a teenager and over to Cottesloe as we lived not far from the ocean at Cottesloe but I never felt relaxed in that water.

Horror as British father, 57, is killed by ’14ft Great White shark’ as he swims off the coast of Western Australia as his wife watches helplessly: Rescuers only found his GOGGLES
Paul Millachip, 57 (right with his wife Thirl), was swimming at a beach in North Freemantle, Perth. It is believed he was killed by a shark while his distraught wife watched from the shore. A large search effort (left inset) happened over 2 days at Port Beach, with rescue vessels monitoring the water after the attack. The beach and others nearby were closed after the incident. Mrs Millachip paid tribute to him, calling him a ‘wonderful’ man and father to their two adult

Too much gardening yesterday I should have stopped when I had the chance! Now I am taking Panadol Osteo and hope for the best. Since the Stroke the GP doesn’t want me to take Mobic. Does anyone take Mobic? I think I will ask the new doctor if I can take it, only twice a week I find it makes a big difference, as I don’t want to give up my gardening it gets me out in the fresh air and I get exercise.

Yes they do come back, it is like typing I didn’t think I would be able to do that when I was in hospital but as soon as I put the fingers on they keyboard everything worked! I had the same experience after I had my last son, I was scared to drive.
Up to the stroke in May, my husband had given up driving as he had several cancer operations then he had the Leukemia. He didn’t give up his license but just stopped driving, then all of a sudden he had to drive us to the doctors and the chemist and the supermarket. He is 80 in March and says he will give up then, I doubt it I think he will continue, I hope so.
When I was in my 50s I said to him I am giving up driving when I turn 60 I will be too old! LOL

My Ups and Downs. #1713958CeliaMemberThe other day I saw the eye surgeon here in Perth about how my site is improving, after a lot of testing with hubby nearby as he had to have some test down after his surgery each year, I was told the swelling has gone down and I can see enough legally to drive now. I told the surgeon I was not expecting that! It is five months since I had the stroke I had told the family I will give myself a year to try and improve before I sold my little car.
Now I need to try to gain the courage to drive! I have not got behind the wheel since the stroke so hubby is going to take me to a quiet place to get my confidence back.
I don’t know if other people have lost their confidence in a similar situation, ie not driving for some time?
It reminds me after I had my last child I lost confidence for about eight months before I got behind the wheel again.
It is amazing how the brain and body in general can change after an injury. I didn’t think of swelling in the injured area was the cause I thought it had been damaged. I am glad I saw the surgeon, he wants me to have checkups either 18 or each 12 months. I opted for 12 monthly check ups.
Now I have to keep on improving my reading!
None of the nerves were damaged thankfully so I plod along and try to improve myself.

Yes I love it too, the first time I saw it the raw cut in have it fascinated me and it always has! That ring that was found is amazing, it is hard to get ones brain about the age of it! I was just trying to imagine when I first read about the ring what has happened in the work since then, what the world was like when it was made too, how primitive we thought society was back then but to make that ring it must have been a wonderful society to have been able to do that. Like the Greeks and Arabs back then. The world must have done a backward flip because it sure was primitive for many years after!
