“Have sent in my postal vote and received an acknowledgment. “
ditto … Done and dusted for me too.
First time voting in this electorate for me. It will be interesting to see how it goes. The incumbent isn’t standing. He got into a bit of strife for taking a picture up a girl’s skirt and hiding in the bushes taking other pictures of other people or something. Apparently ‘everyone’ knew he was a bit of a sleaze, but he still managed to hang onto the seat (and his well-paid job) for 17 years. Sometimes I despair of the voting public.

I know you must feel down at times but you seem to have made up your mind to make the most of your life in spite of the challenges you have to face.
You are never boring my friend, in fact, you are inspirational.
… And I love your pretty flower pictures as well.

Pity about the ‘ouch’ factor in the Diphtheria shot, but I guess it’s a relatively small price to pay all things considered. I, for one, am old enough to remember those dreadful diseases. Thank goodness for vaccines.
All to best to you.
LeonieMemberScandal in the Suburbs
A funny thing happens in this place of ours,
not sure if it happens elsewhere.
A gang of one legged thieves covertly scours
the suburbs for our underwear.
They only take one sock, they’ve no need of two
but leave us with nary a pair,
and lately I reckon they’re trying for new
bounty. It’s teaspoons they snare.
I can’t find a teaspoon, they’ve hidden away.
I have no idea where they’ve gone.
I’m blaming those one legged thieves, but today
I’m thinking I might have it wrong.
Remember that funny old nursery rhyme
about cows jumping over the moon?
An innocent dish was blamed time after time
but the sock ran away with the spoon.

My Ups and Downs. #1713852LeonieMemberCelia’s photo prompted me to share my favourite ‘mother’ and daughter photo. The lady is actually my Aunt, my Mother’s sister, but she was just as instrumental in raising me as was my Mother. I grew up in a house with Mum & Dad, Aunt & Uncle, and one adult cousin. The sisters were both considered parents in the eyes of a young kid, I called my Aunt Mimi. So I had Mum and Mimi and continued to refer to them like that all my life, still do.
When my kids came along, the two sisters were still living together but the men had gone, died way too soon, sadly.
Funny story. My youngest son’s teacher once asked me if my mother had a dog. I didn’t think much of it, just said no. Then she said was I aware that he may have an imaginary friend? Well no, but it wouldn’t bother me if he did. After a process of elimination, I worked out she was talking about Mimi. When ‘Mimi’ failed to be a French Poodle, the teacher surmised she may have been an imaginary friend who lived with my mother!!!! A bit of a leap. It amused Mimi and me no end.
Anyway, this is Mimi and me.

I know that things can go pear-shaped, throwing out appointment times, especially in doctors surgeries and the like, but every single time!! I get toey after 20 minutes never mind 60.
And good on you for walking out, we should all do that. The least they could do is let you know ahead of time that there is likely to be that kind of a delay.
By the way, love that photo of you and your mother. 🙂
14 September 2021 at 1:59 pm in reply to: Qantas confirm ban on unvaccinated passengers on international flights #1712379LeonieMemberI seem to remember some mention on the nightly news recently that the check-in app we are all using everywhere we go these days, will eventually be updated to record a person’s vaccination status as well. Not a bad idea. It would take care of the inevitable ‘fake’ vaccination certificates that are already doing the rounds apparently.
LeonieMemberHad my second dose of AZ almost a week ago, no after-effects at all, not even a sore arm. I was a bit worried about getting it after my hospital admission three weeks after the last one. I covered that somewhere on here, can’t remember if it was this particular thread. Bottom line, no one was prepared to admit it had anything to do with the vaccine but they weren’t taking any chances and checked for blood clots among other things. I was unwell for a week or so but am fine now.
If I get through this one unscathed I think we can put it down to coincidence. I’ll make sure to let you all know, one way or the other. If I’m still around.
On a side note – I don’t think I’m starting to turn into a cyborg yet, so hopefully, my DNA is still intact. 😉
I opened Facebook this morning. What can I say? And then I came in here, sigh.
Anyway, it’s early days but I’m hopeful, and still more afraid of the virus than the vaccine.

I hope sanity prevails, our ‘leaders’ get their act together, and a less problematic vaccine soon becomes available for people like you.
