I agree, cut immigration. This should hve been stopped years ago, when it brecame apparent that the country isn’t able to cope wqith over 200K p.a. as it was then, now it’s down to 150K, I can’t believe it, this is wwhat the housiong crisis is all about. We don’t have houses now, why bring more people into a country that doesn’t have the housing and infrastructure to go with it. Look at the health situation, going down the tube , especially in Tassie.
FrankCParticipantI agree with thee ban, though why it has to take 4 years, I can’t imagine. When these animals arriuve at their destination in thee middle east, God know what they nwould be subjected to; I’m sure the abbatoirs there would not have any standards like we have recently encouraged in certain establishments here in Australia, they would be experiencing fear, torture before their death.
FrankCParticipantHow far does this go back, as I have a bottle of this Gin close by.

25 January 2024 at 2:03 pm in reply to: What goes on in the toilet cubicle should stay there #1825369FrankCParticipantSome years ago, my son and his wife went to Norway and the hotel room had a similar set up, BUT, the glass walls were clear glass !! When either one wanted to use the toilet, the other left thge room and took a walk outside. They could not believe that in 2019
FrankCParticipantSo long as the food is up to scratch and relative to the typer of restaurant, I don’t care who cooks it and who serves it. Ther above, “only in America” !

FrankCParticipantMy wife and I have noticed as you say, price drops on non essential items, like cheezels, some biscuits, etc I’m sure with all their billions in profit, a 10 cent “loss” would not even show in the bucket, smaller than a drop.
FrankCParticipantThey are paying $2.24 in South Morang, north of melbourne.
FrankCParticipantI happened to mention to my granddaughter yesterday, when we bought a new VJ Valiant in 1976, ( for those who aren’t as old as me , it had a straight 6 engine and a 245 hemi motor, making it a 4 litre) we filled up the 64 litre tank for $16. We spent a holiday in Adelaide around the same time, and it would have cost $13 there. That is what you call the good old days !! haha
FrankCParticipantWhat the current generation of home buyers don’t realise, they are llucky to have an interest of 4%. When we built a house in Tasmania, and moved and bought one in One mile just out of Ipswich,Qld. , the going rate was 14.25%, and that rayte lasted quite a while.10 years It certainly kept house pricess down. And in 1992 it went up to 17%, yep 17%. How it got down to 1% is a mystery which should never have happened . While I am hbere, perhaps someone can explain what or who is Gen X .
FrankCParticipantThere was a recent scam where you were told you had won $170 worh of tools in kit form from Bunnings.. I ‘phoned Bunnings and was told it is a scam. Then I looked at the URL, it was a mismatch of letters and numbers, so it was obviously a scam. Should have looked there first, but as a member of Bunnings workshop group, thought I would look at it. I usually check the URLs of these type of ads.

13 June 2023 at 11:22 am in reply to: Annoying slang revealed: What’s your most/least favourite Aussie slang? #1803471FrankCParticipantWhat I find most annoying is the word ‘Drobe’. This is exemplifying and encouraging the laziness of a lot of Ausstralians, use one syllable when you can, why use 2, or heaven forbid, 3, when you can use 1. It is just sheer laziness, and that wretched advert on TV for a company that producesa “WARDROBES’, OOOH 2 syllables,!! that’s a big word isn’t it. That ad should be removed and edited.

FrankCParticipantI live in Latrobe, a small townn of approix. 4500 people.in Northwest Tasmania . I booked an appointment to see a GP to review my recent Cholesterol levels. I bookedd this on the 29th May, and the earliest appointment is 29th June., and we have 14 GPs, two of which are not taking new patients. I say “a GP”, because it depends how soon you want to see a doctor, otherwise you take whoever is available, the days of ‘my GP’ are long gone . In December, 2022 , I saw a visiting specialist in a temporary O.P. department at our local hospital regarding my COPD. I was told if I cancelled that visit the earliest I could see him would be October 2023 !! , and millions are being spent reconfiguring the current outpatient department to make a larger department, for specialists that are like hen’s teeth here in Tasmania, which is similar to conditions on the mainland , I have been informed..
FrankCParticipantBritish imperialism not only steals precious gems from a country, it did a similar thing here over two hundred years ago, I think its’s called plundering.
FrankCParticipantIn a case of national security, a citizen would give the government more clout than a non citizen, in a case of prosecution for soem form of espionage, I would have thought, perhaps I could be wrong.
FrankCParticipantNot from north of Cape York peninsula !
FrankCParticipantNo wonder more important criminal case are taking so long to get to court, or prosecution, when this sort of nosense ties up a court.
