I recall Sir Bob Geldof, probably on a visit here many years ago, being asked a question about whether Australia should become a Republic. His response? “show me one that works”!!

Albo and his mob said no extra taxes and this is just that, an additional tax on Australians!! I cannot believe that we have the most expensive passport in the world, but I suppose we need to generate enough to pay for the underworked, overpaid bureaucrats who run the system!!

Leving your estate to your kids may be the ONLY way they can ever pay for a home nowadays. When we bought our house years ago, the cost was around 5 years total annual income, I think it is around 10.5 now. It took us twenty five years to pay it off in those days, so go easy on our kids, we didn’t have anyone to help us and I will help ours all we can when the time comes!!

Its all about the “money”. The banks etc make obscene profits, continually close branch’s to save on employees, we get,as “two cents worth” notes, charged in most places that use cards and the Macquarie bank is now going cashless, saving a fortune (more profits) from cutting security and cash movement. You have to travel for miles to find an automatic teller machine or, as I did rfecently, have to pay $2:50 to use a privately owned teller machine!! The Government MUST step in and stop this ripoff

British Pensioners in Australia (BPiA) have been lobbying governments for years trying to get this rule overturned. Many countries such as the EU, America, Jamaica and some other commonwealth coutries automatically get this adjustment, so why doesn’t it apply in Australia. Both major parties (while in opposition) tell us they will do something about it but nothing ever seems to change. Also, many expats who have moved to Australia, after having worked in the UK before coming here are able to claim a pension from the UK Government, but aren’t aware of it. Joining BPiA will assist you in claiming this pension and for the small yearly fee, will help fund the campaign to have this draconic rule changed
