KayJayParticipant
Agree with Jim- this is nothing more than a push to make all homes compliant with the Climate Change Wokes- Victoria has the largest proportion of these people. Enforcing these requirements will increase the rental costs (owners have to generate sufficient returns to make rental viable) The cost to put in place several of these proposals would take many rentals off the market.(like new electric hot water services – heat pumps cost over $5000 even after State subsidies and the same with air conditioning)
KayJayParticipantWhile I expect many small businesses may be unaware of their needs to have 4g, surely most of the companies offering services like security systems would be contacting their customers now. If you have a wireless operated system and they don’t advise you and offer an update, they will lose their monthly income and some customers will expect compensation being unsecured. (The criminals organisations will be hoping to seize an advantage immediately after August 31st.
Why aren’t the internet and phone companies, making people aware of this now or even the telecommunication industry body.
I must say I knew about it, but was only thinking of my own devices and not thinking about the communications with companies and people I use.KayJayParticipantSmoking is a killer, regardless as to whether it’s by vapes or cigarettes or anything with tobacco content. The only exception is if smoking vapes can really help people to quit and isn’t some deceptive way of allowing vapes to be sold whether by prescription or other means.
The restrictive laws banning any form of tobacco should be enforced with very high penalties for selling it. The Australian Governments of all “colours” have done a great job over the years to bring smoking down by most people.- being easy on vapes has been a disaster this could ruin much of this effort.KayJayParticipantNot only are banks going cashless- they are now making it impossible to talk to anyone on the phone. They sent me a notice to say they couldn’t contact me by email, yet no one else has a problem and even other parts of the Westpac business send me daily emails. They refer you to their app on your mobile and to”chat” with their robotic assistant. The assistant who never understands your problem and if it cannot answer it ends the conversation with “You will not be bothered with this problem again”. Just a way of saying “I don’t know the answer”. You have to go to a branch ( if you have one nearby) and sort the problem out there. But unfortunately this same department at Westpac are still telling me, my email isn’t working- maybe they should go to the office next door and ask them how to do it. I receive about 30-40 emails a day form other businesses or friends.
KayJayParticipantYou have to be careful with any changes to private school funding and what would occur if the changes resulted in a substantial increase in the number of pupils having to go to public schools. The cost to provide the extra schools and infrastructure to cope, would be far greater than the current funding provided.
Currently about 40% of children are going to private schools. How would the Government cope if any changes introduced, caused a substantial increase in the number of people deciding to have their children educated publicly. The private schools may have to raise their fees even more than the current high fees and extras cost, if it resulted in less Government help.
Not all private school children come from “millionaire” homes-some parents make substantial sacrifices, because they believe private schools provide a better education more in tune with their own expectations and with less political opportunity than in public schools. Private school teachers have to follow the specific private school’s known style and are less able to bend their lessons towards their personal political or lifestyle beliefs.
I guess importantly, what are the educational results of public v private schools.
KayJayParticipantSeems to me that Google has gone down the Google. How did they decide what are Christmas Movies anyway.
Home alone, Love Actually and It’s a wonderful life. Of course they don’t add the comment-“This is only on Google, which isn’t the only way to access favourite films.KayJayParticipantI agree- once you reach the age of 75 the government think you’re on the way to being dead,so why spend money on all these people. Haven’t they heard, the average age for people has risen significantly since the “stop supporting at 74” was documented.
Same with vehicle rental companies- very hard to rent a car, even for day if you are over this age and impossible when you are 85.Travel insurance is still based on when the average maximum age was 75.It costs more than the rest of the cost for a months holiday overseas- even outside of the USA.
There are considerable barriers to being supported or doing things when you reach the 70’s.4 September 2023 at 12:16 pm in reply to: Eye-watering amount pollie spends on travel hits millions #1811931KayJayParticipantMany Government members of all political shades seem to look upon their time in government as a good time enjoy luxury travel at public and tax payers expense. (Just look at the lovely life of MEPs- Members of the European Parliament”). However, the current Labor Government seems to be making many new rules and excuses to mask their real intentions. Why has the need for “security” increased so much since Labor was elected, that all VIP flights by members of the Government must remain secret. Government members now make all travel by VIP flights so nobody can find what I spend. Maybe Labor are concerned that these joy flights will only last until after the next election.
KayJayParticipantNo the Authorities were jealous of his success with procedures they couldn’t do. While he made a mistake with 2 patients, how many others did h save, who would not have had any future, but to die.
I wonder how many patients have not had a good outcome from similar surgeons on this committee. How many more patients will they refuse to treat, that DR Teo would have tried to extend their lives and now have no hope.
KayJayParticipantI’d definitely back Disney against De Santis who has made so many wrong decisions in the past and trying to control a private business because you don’t believe in their business decisions could be a bad move.
Think how much money Disney brings into Florida and probably helps pay the Governors salary and a lot towards the State finances. )Think of all those bad characters Disney have in their paddock).
